I haven’t been around much lately and it’s time to tell you why. For the past couple of weeks I have been working on something very exciting. And now it’s ready to share with the world.
Two weeks ago I had an idea for a newsletter that would set a new standard in the world of self-improvement and personal development. I knew instantly that I was onto something extraordinary, but the whole concept was based on the ability to gather a group of talented writers who wanted to get involved.
In other words, I couldn’t do it alone!
My idea was to bring together a talented team whose coordinated efforts could produce a high quality, content rich, magazine style newsletter covering the many aspects of self-improvement.
I thought about it overnight and the next day I designed a dedicated website just for this project. After a few hours work the details began falling in place and I was really able to visualize where I wanted to go with this newsletter. But let’s face it; building an opt-in page is the easy part.
What I needed now was a team of writers
Not just any writers, I wanted to bring together people with real talent, and a variety of specialties and perspectives in the self-improvement field. I also wanted people with varying circumstances and types of education. And I wanted it to happen as fast as possible because I am in the middle of another project.
As I write this I realize what a tall order this really was. Wow, I didn’t want much did I? But the truth is I was so excited by this whole Idea that I never considered the full scope of what was required. I just went for it like a man possessed.
Hit the send button and watch what happens
As soon as the basic web page was up I made a list of people I thought would be a good fit and emailed them with my idea. I sent out eleven emails thinking that I could put together a good newsletter if half of them responded favorably.
Within 24 hours I had seven favorable replies. Within 48 hours every single person had written back and said that they would absolutely love to be a part of this project. I was blown away, a 100% positive response. There was so much positive energy being exchanged that it was almost unbelievable. I am still buzzing from it.
Everything exploded into warp speed
I compiled a list of main topics, sent it out, and started getting articles back within two days. The ideas, feedback, and encouragement were flooding in. I decided to build a Sharing Life Skills blog around the newsletter to highlight our contributing authors, and to allow for feedback and comments from our subscribers.
It all came together so beautifully! In fact I ended up calling the first issue the “Premier Double Edition” because it turned out to be 28 pages long. This has been an incredible experience and a testimony to the spirit of cooperating and unselfish giving that can move mountains.
Sharing Life Skills Newsletter is born
Each month’s newsletter will be delivered to our subscribers in PDF format. Each article has a link so readers can “share their thoughts” and one to the articles “Author’s Page.” The best part is that there is no charge for subscribing. Sharing Life Skills Newsletter is absolutely free. This is a contribution to the greater good by a very special group of talented and dedicated writers who have lovingly volunteered to share their knowledge, experience, and wisdom with you in all areas of self-improvement.
Just two weeks from its conception, I now have the wonderful pleasure of inviting you to subscribe to Sharing Life Skills Newsletter, claim your copy of the Premier Double Edition, and meet the incredible people who made this project possible.
I’d also love to hear your thoughts on this project!

Hi Julie, I’d say that we are definitely having some fun now. There is a lot to be said for the power of focus, that’s for sure. The interesting thing about this project was that it was a communal energy being generated by everyone involved. I just felt like I was riding it toward it’s natural expression. By the way, your article was my wife’s favorite.
Oh! Thank you for sharing that with me! My style is so different than others’ that I was feeling a bit like a fish out of water. You’ve just made my day.
Here’s the thing Julie, different is good. I was striving for a variety on every level so there would be something in the newsletter that everyone could relate to. We needed, and really benefited from, your wonderfully unique perspective and “story telling” style. You shine!
I like the hustle Jonathan!
It’s fascinating to me that all that was sparked by a simple idea. Everything starts as an idea. Way to follow through on your passions – always refreshing to hear stories like yours.
Keep hustlin’!
Thanks Ryan, seems like some ideas are almost self-perpetuating. That’s how this one felt, it just pulled me in and held me captive. I loved it.
Jonathan,
You are an amazing man, with such deep insight into our being. And this just really feels like the next dimension in that.
