Hi Jonathan,
Game Plans are important, have an end result firmly etched in your psyche....then fill in the gaps with specific reference points (goals)..and enjoy the game.
Thankyou.
be good to yourself

Hi Anne, the trick is to build on our successes and learn from our not so successful attempts. Notice I didn't use the word failure and that's because, as long as we are learning, there really is no failure. We always get a result. If it's not the result we wanted then at least we learned what doesn't work and we can make adjustments from there.

Sounds like you've reached a nice life balance Galen. When we thing of goals we usually think in terms of productivity, but goals can also cover the less specific yet equally important aspects of life as well. Balancing the productive side life with the more curious, unfolding side is an art. It's the art of balance and it is truly one of the greatest life skills.

Thanks Geo, you are exactly right, successful goal setting and implementation is a very important life skill. Most people understand the concept, but have limited understanding of the process. This is why their success rate seems random and variable. Like any skill, the better we get at it the gratifying our results will be.

I liked the fact you talked about preparation and planning. Our past successes are always a way to pave the way to future achievements. They can show us that if we had the ability to do it once, we can do it again.

As I get older, my goals are less specific and more global, like I want to be awake and present. Yes, I'd like to finish my book, but really, if my life is fulfilling and every day is full of joy, then I'm good. So interesting to hear myself say that since my life has been full of goals and I've been pretty successful in achieving them. Maybe I am just still basking in my new retirement after a 30+ year career. My last specific goal was getting my black belt, which I got last November. Now I'm enjoying seeing what each day brings.
