Great stress busters. I always advice people to do for others. The more you do, the more you understand how the human nature flourishes on giving of ourselves. There's no other boost like it. The stress in our own lives soon take on perspective when we start to concentrate on others' needs.

Marcelina,

Along with avoiding difficult people are also the negative unhappy workers. One of the biggest causes of stress for me - are people that pull you down to their unhappy world.

Hi Michaela, I love simple solutions and you are absolutely right - it's the implementation part that really matters. Admittedly, avoiding difficult people (#7) has its own unique challenges. Sometimes we simply don't have that option, that's when coping strategies come in handy.

Hi Brandon, so true that life is basically one big balancing act. While outside influences may disrupt our balance temporally, we are the only one who can restore it.

That is an excellent strategy Leslie. It is amazing how much more manageable those situations become with a little shift in perception. Thanks for sharing that with everyone.

I'm pretty sure the serenity prayer is one of the greatest things ever regarding control over what we can't handle.

I know it's associated with religion and (as far as I know) AA but it really is just the most useful series of words I have ever read.

Dear Jonathan, thx again for your fantastic work. I love the points you make. Some of them are dead simple and obvious but are only rarely implemented. #7 is a great one too, but more difficult to implement. ;( Anyway, thx for your great advice. I'll put it to good use. Michaela

This is a great article, I notice all of these actions revolve around taking control of your own life. Are you acting in life or reacting to life? You're the one that has to watch out for you, generally speaking no one else will tell you you're working too hard or too long. You'll end up burnt out and sick and have no one but yourself to blame (I've been there way too many times!).
