Naked in Eden with Robin Easton

by Jonathan - Advanced Life Skills

Red-Bellied-Black-Snake

Head to head, eye to eye, I didn’t dare breathe; my moist breath might provoke a serious strike. Inches from my face, my neck, it would be the worst place for venom to enter my body.

I could see each individual scale on his head. His rapidly throbbing throat stretched so tautly it appeared distorted. Two glass-like black eyes bulged with fear and stared straight into mine. His tongue flicked between black scaly lips to taste the air. Can he taste my fear?

Do I have your attention?

Great, because what you have just read is from the introduction to Robin Easton’s new book Naked in Eden. This book is absolutely mesmerizing from cover to cover and I know you are going to love it.

Naked in Eden is available in all major bookstores as of today. So please, do
yourself a favor and read this incredible story of Robin’s “Adventure and Awakening in the Australian Rainforest.”

Robin Easton up close and personal

I wanted to take you behind the scenes for a candid conversation with Robin as I asked her some personal questions about the creation of this masterpiece. For some reason I could not get the audio player to work within the post, so it will open on a separate page. In these two short audio interviews Robin responds to the following questions:

1) While you were writing this book, how did it feel to go back and relive those adventures and what did you learn from this experience?

Robin Easton Interview 1

2) The success of this book (inevitable) will actually expose you to a world that is the opposite of what the book describes. What kind of personal growth do you see as a result of this fusion of two completely different worlds?

Robin Easton Interview 2

Get this amazing book!

I honestly can’t say enough about how exceptional this book is. Not only is the story totally captivating, but Robin is the most gifted writer I have ever known. You won’t be able to put it down. Naked in Eden on Kindle

Robin Easton was twenty-five when she left the United States and went to live in the remote tropical Daintree Rainforest of Queensland Australia. This is her true story and it’s one you really don’t want to miss!

I hope you enjoyed these interviews as much as I enjoyed doing them. In addition to picking up a copy of Naked in Eden, you will probably want to visit Robin on her blog. She is also on twitter, facebook, YouTube and Robin is a contributing author for Sharing Life Skills newsletter.

This was the first interview I have done as a podcast,
Robin and I would love to hear your feedback!

Oh dear, I thought for a second that you were going to tell me poor Robin (or you for that matter) came face to face with a poisonous SNAKE!!! In which case I did not have the heart to continue…
Listening to your interview and I am so happy to see you venture into the audio podcasting world, Jonathan! As for Robin’s perspective, I love it – it’s so calming just to listen to her. I am wondering – is the book available on the Kindle yet? :) Thank you for giving us this on first day of a new month!!!

Hi Farnoosh, actually both Robin and I have been face to face with poisonous snakes several times. In my case it has always been the western rattlesnake. I’ll tell you, the sound of those rattles triggers some very deep survival nerves.

I don’t think the book is available on Kindle yet, maybe Robin can clue us in on that. (Update: Naked in Eden on Kindle ) Thanks for being here Farnoosh, your presence always makes me smile.

Hi Farnoosh and Jonathan, I am trying to find out about the Kindle situation from my publishers and will let you know as soon as I hear something.

Also, I just loved how you (Jonathan), wrote about coming face to face with snakes. It just tickles me that you “know” these kind of experiences. :)

Hi dear Robin and Jonathan, thank you for getting back to me. I could’ve been proactive and probably researched it myself but so nice of you to indulge me. Robin, thank you – I’ll look for it on my flights tomorrow…..it’s easier to read on the Kindle. Congratulations again!
Gosh I have no words for those rattle snakes except that may none of us face that day EVER! I can’t even manage frogs or lizards without screaming….It’s awful – don’t spread the word – I like to appear tough ;)!

I haven’t read Robin’s book yet, but in the next few days I’ll be getting my copy. I’ll see if our local Chapters indigo store has it, otherwise I’ll order online.

I am excited to read it because I know something of Robin’s story from our association online. But most importantly, I know that Robin is the real deal. She has paid her dues in so many ways. Her account of her time in the rain forest promises to be richly rewarding on many levels. What a beautiful inspiration to be connected and genuine.

Best,
John

Dear John, I am deeply moved by your words, that you see and appreciate the depth. I can see why, because it’s the way of your own life. You are a refreshingly authentic soul.

Oh Jonathan!! This is just FABULOUS what you did here. I love that photo that you took time to find. Excellent! The snake even had a red belly like the one in my story! :)

I am sooo honored, my friend. What an amazing way (and place) to launch “Naked in Eden” into the world. More importantly, what an amazing person to do it with.

I am just laughing right now. I listened to the audios and all I could think was how patient you were with me that day. I just sensed how you knew we…okay,”I”….needed to talk a “bit” before the interview! LOL! And what an experience that talk was. I learned so much about myself and life from you that day. Wow!

And, you were right about interview 2, I actually sounded clearer than I felt, because on my end what I felt was the feeling of exploring, or feeling my way into your question. You gave me a huge gift by asking that question. You gave me the opportunity to better understand myself and life.

I am deeply grateful, Jonathan.

Hugs,
Robin

It was not that easy to find a good picture of an Australian Red Bellied Black Snake but you know the saying “keep on seeking.”

I know this book launch is just the beginning for you Robin. You are a truly gifted writer and story teller. Like I said before, make room for a new title in the #1 spot on the NY Times bestsellers list. And in all honesty, no one deserves it more. You rock!

Robin and Jonathan, great article and interview. Robin, I loved your early comments about how writing the book let you fully claim the lesson. I know exactly how you feel as I’ve always felt the same with with my own writing. It really is more for me, than others even though I publish it opening. I can see how the book brought that back to you and enhanced everything you had experienced with the new way of understanding it. Great points!

Anyway, I absolutely concur with the review here, I too loved the book, have reviewed it now on my site as well and will continue to recommend it to people I know. It’s quite a fun experience and definitely one that will draw you in deeper and deeper, not only into the story, but the thoughts around it which is what I liked about it the most.

Dear Mike!! I LOVED the insights in your review. It was amazing for me to see myself and my life and my story through your eyes. And yours are very wise, deep and thoughtful eyes. I am forever impressed with layers of insight you process. It always makes me curious where you got that from, or if you were born with it, or if events of your life brought it about, or if it came from your parents?? OR if it’s just what it means to be Mike King! :)

Mike, I really enjoyed your review of Robin’s book. I love the way you articulate your impressions and internal responses. I also totally relate to your comment about how we benefit so much from writing. I think that writing/blogging is one of the most powerful self-realization exercises we can do. Thanks for being a friend Mike, you are truly appreciated.

Robin and Jonathan,
So, so wonderful to hear both of your voices together! What beautiful souls you both are, out there in this amazing world we live in!

Robin, I can so relate to the concept of how writing can make the journey all that much clearer…something I very much feel, too.

I have a copy of the book, and have a wonderful trip planned in about a week or so – that will very much put me near to nature, and also in a space that will provide some wonderful moments for reading. This will be a deeply good place for me to let your words soak into my soul…

Jonathan, thanks so much for doing this interview with Robin…you are both amazing gifts of light in this world…

Hi Lance, thanks for bringing your very special brand of positive energy to this post. Robin and I had a blast doing this and visiting on the phone. We spent a good percentage of the time laughing.

We would both love to get your feedback when you’re done reading it. I was blown away but the quality of her writing, She really is a world class writer.

Dear Lance, Thank you so much for you kind words dear friend. You KNOW they mean the world to me. I also love how you picked up on “writing making the journey much clearer. I am really seeing that to a HUGE extent in my weekly blogging. It’s changed my life in so many many ways. So have all the incoming comments and insights that you and others make. Just astounding how it’s affected my life.

I hope you enjoy this raw off the map time of my life. I also hope you enjoy your trip in Nature; maybe you will write about it on your blog, share it with us. I really hope so. Whenever you write about lessons and experiences you’ve had in Nature, they are powerfully and pithy.

Thank you dear Lance; you are a beautiful gift to me, to Jonathan and all the lives you so generously touch.

HUGE Hugs,
Robin

Dear Jonathan and Robin.
The book is awesome, it is really hard to describe what the book will do to you when you read it, but it is definitely an experience. It was for me an experience beyond my imagination. The book takes you into the rain forest as well, it took me face to face with my own societal condition and fears and healed me too.
Robin’s book is a gift beyond your imagination if you let it. It deserves your full attention to let Robin’s amazing wisdom sink into your being too, Robin’s book is so what the world needs right now, what humanity needs right now.
Reading the book is the best thing you can do to heal yourself and the world.
Robin, I will be for ever grateful for your awesome courage and enormous generosity to share your journey so awesomely. Jonathan, thank you for promoting Robin’s gift which gives us and the earth a future again. Much love, Wilma

Hi Wilma, when Robin and I were talking, we both realized how fortunate we were to spend years in those wild, untamed environments. Mine was the remote mountains of Oregon on the very edge of the wilderness. What we realized is that most of those “wild” areas have changed. This area of Oregon no longer feels like wilderness and even Robin’s beloved rainforest is not the same. The opportunity to have such a wilderness experience doesn’t really exist anymore unless you go to one of the few remaining, most extreme locations on the planet.

I think Robin’s book awakens in us that special sense of true connection with all life that is missing in this modern, insulated world. It allows us to share with her in that whole awakening process, something we all long for on the deepest levels.

Dear Jonathan, this is very moving what you wrote here. And I love what you said about: “…true connection with all life that is missing in this modern, insulated world. It allows us to share with her in that whole awakening process, something we all long for on the deepest levels.”

Yes, dear Jonathan, we do long for this connection. I think we ALL do; we just may have forgotten that “connection” is what we long for. So we are often left with just “longing”, “hunger”, “restlessness”, even “depression”, but we don’t know WHY we feel these things. I think it would be more than I could hope for if my story could help us all remember who we are and what we are connected to, and maybe, remind us what we hunger for.

Thank you my friend,
Hugs,
Robin

Dear Wilma, I am forever touched by your WIDE open heart, and your ability to seek out and connect with who you REALLY are. And you ARE Nature. You have a wonderfully passionate relationship with water and sea and Earth and plants and gardens and all of it. You are abundantly rich.

It is NEVER too late for us all to awaken and merge with the astounding world around us. And you are doing that “full – on”. You inspire me daily to be who I REALLY am. You continually validate my truest self.

I just love that you could FEEL and understand in your body that, yes, my story is an experience. You have helped me see that and to better understand that it IS how I express myself both in written and verbal word. I become the experience. But then that is how you and and Jonathan and many other are choosing to live life.

Thank you for just “being” you.
Much love,
Robin

Dear Jonathon,

This is a beautiful review. I loved the audios and the post.

I have now read Robin’s book and I am stunned at the beauty of it. I know the love that is Robin and yet I couldn’t have possibly known how remarkable the book would be.

It is one of the best books I’ve ever read. I wept and laughed – numerous times. It took me to soul. I hung on every word and didn’t want it to end – it was like saying goodbye to a friend when I read the last words.

Yet, the message and the wonderment, the power of the human spirit, the beauty and healing power of nature, lives in me as I reflect back upon this rare gem.

Thank you for this great review.

Love,
Lauren
