I personally struggle with the too many goals problem. I guess I am something of a renaissance soul. I pursued music as a career (it was surprisingly hard to make a living as a trombonist), then my own business, then my writing, then I went back to school to teach history, then back to business, then I started writing again…etc. I was easily distracted by anything shiny that crossed my path.

Something I found that helps is sitting down and breaking things down to what are the values that I really want to live by. I like independence, I like teaching, and I like to be creative…really everything revolved around those things. So I try to pursue goals that meet one or more of those. If I can write with the intent to teach, and incorporate that into a business I am pursuing multiple goals in some ways without spreading myself too thin.
