Jonathan,
I believe gratitude is powerful in helping clients (and myself!) to make the shift from a negative frame of mind to positive. It is amazing how pausing for a moment to make a list of all that we are grateful for can bring a smile to our face, and joy in our hearts for the abundant blessings God has given. Again, a powerful coaching tool. Thank you for the post!

Many of my mentors have said "what you focus on expands" and if we are to take that to the bank (and we should) we need to focus on the positive things happening around us. Like tends to attract like and if we are focused on the good and recognizing it with gratitude we should see that expand exponentially. Time to seek and find the miracles that surround us and appreciate at least one each and every day!

Hi Joy, negativity and positivity are both energy and they both tend to have a polarizing influence on anyone within their field. That's why it is so exhausting to remain positive and upbeat around negatively charged individuals or groups. On the other hand, positive association make it much easier to live in a state of gratitude and appreciation.

Hi Lenia, one good way to make appreciation a daily habit is to do a short gratitude review when you first wake up in the morning, and right before you go to sleep at night. Focusing on the things you are thankful for at those times will help you maintain a constant attitude of gratitude throughout the day.

Hi Ken, this was so well put "<em>For gratitude to truly affect our happiness at a fundamental level, it has to become a reflexive response to life.</em>" That is really where the live transforming power of gratitude and appreciation are felt. When our perception is consistently influenced by a well placed gratitude filter, we not only see thing differently, but we also respond in a completely different way. The end result is that our reality rearranges itself accordingly.

Hi Jonathan,
Thank you for sharing your reflection on gratitude!
In life, I am one who very naturally finds the thing to be genuinely grateful for in each experience-regardless of external. I understand that this is a practice for many. I agree with Zeenat that we are inherently positive energy based, yet as you point out many people get caught up in the flow of mainstream and their base reaction is not gratitude. I think if we may adjust our base reaction, the quality of our life would bring the inner peace that so many people "look for" externally.
I also hear Sandra, and I love your response. In my life, it can be draining and exhausting to be surrounded by people who are not positive..I burn out or plateau in creating. It is about balance and what you wish to create in life. When my relations are transparent and positive, investing is refreshing and life enriching.
