Great article. I especially like #13 and #14. I recently started being honest with people instead of making up excuses. For example, when people invited me somewhere and I wasn't particularly excited about it I would just make up something to get out of it. Now I try to be as honest as I can without hurting peoples feeling. That is where #14 comes in on being tactful. At first I didn't care and thought being brutally honest would help and it didn't. But, being honest without hurting peoples feelings has gained me more respect and people appreciate my honesty.

I think the most important point is definitely number one.

We have to make the decision to be happy, to choose positive thoughts over negativity. It's amazing how simply changing the way you choose to view the same situations, as blessings rather than burdens, can really define how happy you are as a person.

Most of the negative unhappy people I know are that way because they chose to be.

James and Farnoosh, I am in total agreement. I was raised by a self taught nutritionist and it is a beginning I will always be thankful for.

[...] 2. Be courteous. Usually, this is just a matter of seeing things from another person’s perspective. If you notice something that you can do to make their situation easier, then do it. And yes, it may require that you go a little bit out of your way, but how hard is it to hold the door open for someone or stop your car to let someone cross the street? Kind deeds have a tendency to repay themselves many times over. It may not happen right away, but there is still a sense of satisfaction that comes from doing the right thing. [...]
